In 2019 the 33 JordynStrong Foundation hosted the first Annual Black & White Gala at the Historic Onesto Hotel in Canton, OH. The inaugural event raised over $61,000 for the Foundation and as intended became the Marque Event for the Foundation. With a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, the Foundation was able to get to work to rebrand this key fundraising event to the Blackbird Ball, gaining its new moniker from the 1968 Beatles song “Blackbird”. The Beatles are notably one of Jordyn’s Top 3 favorite bands and “Blackbird” was listed in her “Fab Four” - if you are an XM subscriber and listen to the Beatles Channel, you know just what this means.
While the 2019 edition of the event was highly successful, the 33 JordynStrong Foundation determined that in order to keep up with a changing social environment during the pandemic, the event would need to transform as well. The search was on for the perfect venue that allowed for us to reinstate this critical fundraising event into our calendar as well as to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our guest to gather together in-person. Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium proved to be the perfect location on their 8th floor, outdoor Skytop Terrace allowing guests to truly experience this one-of-a-kind venue and help us to celebrate all the Foundation has been able to accomplish over the last few years and to once again gather together to remember the too short life of Jordyn Myers. It was a remarkable evening. In 2022, we celebrated together at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton, OH. It was our most successful event yet, financially speaking, and we had a wonderful night with all attendees. In 2023, we hosted an 80's Prom at R. Shea Brewing in Downtown Akron and had a blast with throwback costumes and electric decor in a retro environment. It was a blast and our best attended event since prior to Covid.
Continuing into our 5th year, we enjoyed a successful event at MAPS Air Museum for a Vintage Vegas themed Casino Night in Green, OH. We are grateful for those who were able to join us as we gathered together once again to celebrate the Foundation and work toward providing a better future for teens in Northeast Ohio facing cancer, as well as remembering Jordyn as she would be preparing to celebrate her 21st birthday.
We hope you will join us on September 13, 2025 for the 6th Annual Blackbird Ball. We promise you won't want to miss it - we always have something new and exciting up our sleeves.
